Property Description
Finally, the latest luxury design trend for multi-generational residential building makes its way to DC: This residence is designed to generously accommodate three generations under the same roof, with over 8000 square feet of finished living space, an ADA compliant elevator to all four floors, roll-in showers (2) and other accommodation features. Numerous add on buyer-specific customizable options are available for this home, including a ½ lap pool, pergola, and outdoor kitchen. This reimagined historic farmhouse, built with all the care and dignity of the original is meticulously crafted at high standards, with exterior finish details that include hand-milled custom wood siding by Colonial Hardwoods, standing-seam metal roofs, and custom wood windows from LePage, Canada. Interior finishes include custom American Cherry solid hardwood floors by Colonial Hardwoods to match the Pennsylvania Amish-crafted cabinetry by Misty Mountain, custom built-ins, stunning Moooi and Hubbardton Forge fine lighting and high-end Miele appliances.
Main floor: The living area and kitchen are adjacent to the original* entry parlor (west side) and dining room (east side). An original fireplace (with optional gas insert) separates the parlor and dining room. An ADA compliant main floor suite is privately situated on the east side.
Second floor: The light-filled south facing mezzanine with double-vaulted windows is open to below, overlooking the main floor and back yard. Off the mezzanine is the primary bedroom suite with its southern balcony, sumptuous bathroom, and enormous dressing room. Two more bedrooms and bathrooms are located off of a private hall on the north side. A laundry room is conveniently located on this floor.
Third floor: An open playroom with a full-length covered balcony is the central feature of this floor, adjacent to a large private study. Two more spacious bedrooms and a shared bath are located off of a private hall on this floor.
Basement: A spacious gym or recreation area is the central feature complete with a ½ bath. A separate bedroom with ensuite bath has full legal egress, making it a great option for a nanny suite or guest room.
Carriage House: A two-car garage with alley access is outfitted for EVs with a dual car charger. There is a studio with full bath and optional kitchenette atop the garage.
The property backs to Lafayette-Pointer Park, and when the leaves are down it has a view of the National Cathedral.
*In 1892 the newly married Horace Jones proudly added a state-of-the-art addition to the north side of his Chevy Chase farmhouse which was a much older structure likely dating from the previous century. The original farmstead at what is now 3326 Quesada St NW is believed to have been built by the Belt or Bradley families who successively owned the land and it was quite similar to the Bradley farmhouse incorporated into the Chevy Chase Country Club (in CC, MD). Horace's 1982 addition, updated to current building code, once again exhibits its wrap-around porch (torn off in 1924) and preserves its original layout of entry parlor and dining room on the main level, with two bedrooms on the second floor and attic space (now finished) on the third floor. It is Horace's original gift to his bride with updated to-code construction and two bathrooms added to the original layout. The original 18th C. farmstead was razed in 1924, leaving only the 1892 addition standing.
